Crew 44 is a co-ed Venturing Crew serving the USAG Stuttgart community, offering youth ages 14–20 the opportunity to challenge themselves through exciting, youth-led adventures. Whether it's hiking, camping, climbing, paddling, or planning the next big expedition, our members take the lead in deciding where to go and what to do. Venturing is built around leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. Crew members develop outdoor skills, organize activities, and create unforgettable experiences while building lasting friendships.

Normandy D-Day Commemoration
This June, five youth and three adult leaders from Crew 44 traveled to Normandy to support the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day at historic La Fière Manor. Throughout the week, the Crew contributed nearly 800 hours of service, preparing meals for French paratroopers and members of Team American Freedom, assisting with commemorative events, supporting the 82nd Airborne Division's memorial jump, and welcoming distinguished guests, including World War II veterans, senior military leaders, and the Director of NASA.
Prepared with advanced Wilderness First Aid and Red Cross training, Crew members also assisted paratroopers after challenging landings during the commemorative jump. Their dedication demonstrated how a small, youth-led Venturing Crew can make a lasting impact while honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who fought in Normandy 82 years ago.
Scouting Castle: Repelling, Archery, International Campfire
Crew 44 spent an unforgettable weekend at an ancient Scouting castle, packed with adventure and international fellowship. Saturday morning was dedicated to learning and practicing archery under the guidance of an outstanding instructor who emphasized proper technique and safe shooting practices.
After archery, the adventure continued with an 18-meter rappel from the castle's tower. Thanks to a thorough safety briefing and encouragement from the rappel team, every participant successfully made the descent.
The crew also enjoyed a hike through the surrounding town, with a stop at the local ice cream vending machine for a well-earned treat. In the evening, we joined a German Scouting unit for their campfire ceremony, where two Scouts advanced in rank. Sharing songs, stories, and traditions around the campfire made for a memorable cultural exchange and a wonderful example of the international spirit of Scouting.
It was a weekend filled with adventure, new skills, and lasting friendships.
